Like many of its competitors, Nissan has refreshed its lineup to feature a range of electric and hybrid vehicles. To encourage customers to start their electric journey, Nissan offer a selection of electrified options:
To help you decide what electric vehicle is right for you, we've produced a brief overview off each option.
A Nissan Mild Hybrid (MHEV) pairs a petrol engine with a lithium battery to provide additional support. The battery provides support during acceleration giving you an extra boost, as well as up hills and while cruising. With a MHEV, there's no need to plug-in as it uses a regenerative braking system to recharge the battery. The battery boosts your vehicle's fuel efficiency by powering the electrics when the vehicle is stationary or cruising.
Currently, Nissan only offer one model as Mild Hybrid; the Nissan Qashqai Mild Hybrid.
The Nissan hybrid system utilises both the petrol engine and electric motors to power your vehicle. Unlike a MHEV, a Hybrid can operate using either power source independently. You can therefore drive solely on electric power, therefore reducing your emissions and improving your fuel efficiency. So, if you think a HEV might be the perfect compromise for you, explore our used Nissan Juke Hybrid collection today.
Nissan e-POWER is a unique electrified vehicle technology that pairs a petrol engine with a lithium ion battery. However, the electric motor alone drives the wheels. It performs similarly to an EV by delivering instant torque, reduced tailpipe emissions, and lower running costs compared to a traditional engine. e-POWER also removes the need to plug-in as the petrol engine produces energy that charges the battery.
Nissan currently offer two popular e-POWER models; the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER & the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER.
As the name implies, All-Electric vehicles rely entirely on an electric battery for power. EVs feature much larger batteries compared to hybrids, providing a significantly greater all-electric driving range. This does however mean that you'll need to charge your battery via an external power source, such as a home or public charger. The Nissan line-up currently features two 100% electric models; the all-electric LEAF and all-electric ARIYA.
