The Nissan hybrid system utilises both the petrol engine and electric motors to power your vehicle. Unlike a MHEV, a Hybrid can operate using either power source independently. You can therefore drive solely on electric power, therefore reducing your emissions and improving your fuel efficiency. Nissan e-POWER is a unique electrified vehicle technology that pairs a petrol engine with a lithium ion battery. However, the electric motor alone drives the wheels. It performs similarly to an EV by delivering instant torque, reduced tailpipe emissions, and lower running costs compared to a traditional engine. e-POWER also removes the need to plug-in as the petrol engine produces energy that charges the battery.
Nissan currently offer two popular e-POWER models; the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER & the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER.
As the name implies, All-Electric vehicles rely entirely on an electric battery for power. EVs feature much larger batteries compared to hybrids, providing a significantly greater all-electric driving range. This does however mean that you'll need to charge your battery via an external power source, such as a home or public charger.
