Eddie Wright sponsor local junior Park Tigers Football team

Eddie Wright Latest News

Park Tigers with Directors Paul Wright and Jane Wright

6th August 2010

For the first time ever one of North Lincolnshire’s top junior football teams will be taking to the field in brand new kit this season . . . after securing a sponsorship deal with a leading local company.

Until now the Park Tigers Under 13s . . . third in the Jack Kalson League last year . . . have always had to make do with hand-me-down shirts, passed on by their senior team clubmates.

All that changed when . . . in the middle of the recession . . . the team pulled off a sponsorship deal with top used car supermarket Eddie Wright.

Team Manager Lee Paddison said: "These days a full set of kit costs just over a thousand pounds even for a junior team. That’s obviously a lot of cash to find and so we’ve always got by using hand-me-downs. The team has never had its own new shirts and sweaters."

"Obviously we’ve thought about trying to get commercial backing but it’s difficult at the best of times, let alone in the middle of a recession when firms are having to cut back on their spending and sponsorship budgets are being axed left, right and centre."

The Tigers breakthrough into the rarefied world of shirt sponsorship came thanks to Sean Robinson . . . midfielder Joshua Robinson’s dad . . . who works for Eddie Wright. He said he would float the idea to his bosses and make the introductions.

To everyone’s delight, the answer was yes . . . and the Tigers join the Scorpions (speedway team Scunthorpe Scorpions) on the list of teams sponsored by the used car supermarket.

Park Tigers Club Chairman Phil Jacklin said: "We’re chuffed to bits. The deal gives the lads a real boost at the start of the season. It is a big sponsorship deal for us and we really appreciate the firm’s interest and support."

Eddie Wright Managing Director Jane Wright said: "They’re a lovely bunch of lads . . . not to mention a very good team! I have to say they do look really cool in the new kit."

"We were very impressed by the commitment and dedication of Lee and Phil. The work they do with the youngsters is tremendous and we were delighted to be able to help."

Meanwhile director Paul Wright added: "The deal is that we provide the sponsorship – and the Tigers deliver the silverware for a nice display in the main showroom at the end of the season!"
